Young children love to sleep, eat, play, and laugh. They have few cares in the world and they don't seem much of a point in doing anything other than what they want to do. Who can blame them? If I had my way I would probably do the same all day. However, it is particularly when children don't want to learn that they need to learn the most. A young child is like a blank slate; teach a young child well and they will continue to learn as adults. If you do not teach them well they will probably struggle for the rest of their lives. Although this might be a little dramatic you should really try to make learning fun so that your children enjoy doing it. If you can create positive feelings about learning in your child's youth you will put them on the path to success in adulthood. Because young children find learning boring you will need to help them see why it is fun through some games, activities, and songs. Perhaps the most important thing you will teach your young children is the alphabet. Learning one's ABCs well is the foundation to a life of reading and learning. Naturally studying twenty six letters is not the ideal day for a youngster, but if you mix some fun in you will find them begging to learn more about the alphabet. Described bellow are some great ideas for fun methods for teaching a child their ABCs.
1. ABC Cake Walk. Set out a series of paper plates on the floor in a circle. Write a letter on each plate. Then sing the ABC song with the children. Stop the ABC song at random moments. Whoever is standing on a particular letter gets a prize. The children all have to shout the letter when the music stops. Eventually you should start to play the game yourself and have the children sing the ABC song.

2. ABC Animal Association. One great way to teach children about the alphabet is to have them associate particular letters with animals they love. Create flash cards with an animal on one side and the letter that begins its name on the other side. When you show the picture of the animal have the children shout the letter on the opposite side.
3. ABC Bingo. Make bingo cards with letters in each square and give them to each child. Call out letters randomly and have the children cover them with something. When you call out a letter require the children to call it out as well. Whoever wins get some sort of exciting prize. Eventually allow the child to call out the letters.
4. ABC Pinata. Using any pinata you can play a great ABC game. All kids love to smash up a pinata with a stick. For this game the child has to call out a letter before they can hit the pinata. This will really get the child going as they become more and more excited about getting the candy from the pinata.
As you can see, there are all sorts of wonderful games to help your children learn the alphabet. If you can make learning the alphabet fun your child will probably think that reading and studying are also fun. Although you might not find that some of these games are particularly to your liking, you will thoroughly enjoy watching your children learn in a fun atmosphere. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that you have helped a child learn an important skill.
