Black and White

Simple and stunning, black and white nurseries are very easy to create. Whether you use stripes, patchwork, or just a combination of black furniture and white furniture, your black and white nursery will be beautiful.

Teddy Bears

So classic, and traditional, a nursery filled with welcoming teddy bears is perfect for any baby. You can include teddy bear pictures, teddy bear blankets, and an array of bears that are small and large placed throughout the room.

Stars

Creating a star-themed nursery can be very versatile. Whether you choose to go for the modern-looking 3-D tin stars, classic yellow stars, or white stars, you can find star-shaped lighting, star-studded bedding, and great wall decorations to be sure your child will grow up...a star!

Patriotic

Whether you choose the true American red, white and blue, patriotic theme, or your native land's flag and colors, creating a patriotic-themed nursery allows your little one to grow up with a full sense of heritage and patriotism.

World

You could also do a slight variation of patriotic and go for a 'world traveler' theme, with décor such as maps, globes, and pictures of landmarks from throughout the world

Circles

Another fun variation of the classic stripes, circles are becoming a nursery hit. You may consider a circle crib, circle decorations, or colored circles painted on the wall, along with a bold circle area rug, this nursery variation is sure to be a hit.

Under the Sea

Another nursery that includes lots of bright colors! Create an underwater themed atmosphere in your nursery, and fill it with tropical fish, seaweed, starfish, and soothing ocean blue.

Imagine a nursery complete with an easel, crayons, pallets, and great works of art. Whether it's modern bright-colored art, or Picassos and Monets, your artistic-themed nursery is sure to inspire an artistic little one.

Numbers

Inspire a little mathematician by creating a nursery full of numbers. Maybe include an abacus, numbers on the walls, and numbered bedding.

ABC's

A slight variation to the Numbers theme, an ABC theme is sure to inspire a new little writer. Complete with baby blocks, wooden letters painted on the walls, and famous literary works, you'll have lots of fun creating this nursery

Whatever theme you pick, your new baby's nursery is sure to be stunning and perfect for a little boy, a little girl, or twins for years to come!

Woodworking Jigs - Why? How To Build?

Woodworking machines and hand tools need jigs and fixtures to reach their full potential. A table saw can slice up wood adequately but tenon making requires a fixture. Drilling holes in line on the drill press requires a fence. You can Bandsaw circles free hand. If you want two of them the same diameter, you'll need a jig.

Circle Crib

Hand tools are just as dependent on jigs. A corner chisel needs a guide to chisel a square mortise corner. Most cutting tools need help to perform their chosen task. Routers are the worst-case situation - they are simply dependent and reliant on support.

Circle Crib

You might think that the key to getting control of the router are difficult. Instinctively, you would think a whirling tool enclosed in a metal case is not good for jigs and fixtures, but it is.

Commercial jigs are available, as some experts suggest. Can you make your own? If done properly, they are better than most commercial jigs and cost a whole lot less. You can improve the jig after building your first one. As this progression continues, your work improves. Often, you find more uses for the same jig.

The point is jigs help you become a quality woodworker. Moreover, your skills will increase as you make woodworking jigs!

A good woodworking jig allows quick set-ups, and efficient cuttings. With a superior jig, few mistakes are possible and not much skill is required for good results. Can you ask for more?

Some jigs take time to make. Once completed, you can use them repeatedly. This is an excellent reason to use first-rate materials and take time to align the pieces.

Let's discuss a couple of the woodworking jigs that you can make. These jigs are superior to Commercial Jigs.

Mortise Jig

Why bother with a mortise jig? The mortise and tenon is the joint of choice in furniture. The joint resists tension and twist, and work great in compression and shear. In addition, registration of your joint is perfect.

Some people use hand chisels or a drill press with hollow square chisels. For the most precise and repeatable mortises, you should consider a mortise jig. For a perfect fit, you want the tenon to fit the mortise exactly.

The Mortise Jig gives excellent results without giving away anything. The mortise and tenon joint will last for a lifetime. You can make mortises of nearly any length, width or depth. Moreover, they are repeatable for multiple cuts.

How does the mortise jig work?

The beauty of this system is simplicity.
The set up is quick. The cuttings are efficient. It supports the workpiece in all directions. It locks in the router to remove only the mortise needed. It is repeatable for several pieces, such as multiple drawers' cavities on each side of a desk. It makes the joint uniform and strong.
Tenon Jig

A Tenon Jig is easy to make. It provides precise four-faced tenons of nearly any length and width. It has fewer parts than the Mortise Jig, yet is just as precise.

With a Tenon Jig, the cutting results are excellent, the process fast, and guaranteed safety. All that you need is a little patience to make a Tenon Jig. Along with the Mortise Jig, you can instantly have a mortise and tenon joint that fits snugly and aligns correctly.

Using these two woodworking jigs, you can craft precise mortise and tenon joints in less time than any other method. You get exact alignment for both parts. Can you ask for more?

You can build many woodworking jigs. Examples: Baby Crib Spindles Jig, Circle Cutting Jig, Edge Guides, Inlay Jig & Templates, Lapping Jig, Notching Jig, and Router Insert Plate Jig & Template, just to name a few.

You will gain confidence with making jigs. It gives you more versatility with your projects. With a little practice, you can't go wrong!

Have fun making Great Woodworking Jigs with safety in mind!

Jesus - The Only Answer?

Members of the congregation I serve recently posed two questions. The first question: "Is it necessary to believe in the unique, singular divinity of Jesus to be a Christian? Divinity means specifically that Jesus was the Son of God, not a daughter or son of God like any typical human would be. Depending on the answer to question above, what does Christian mean? The second question: if Jesus is the only way to heaven, what happens (happened) to the over 90% of humans in history who did not follow/know him - also the billions following other religions?

Circle Crib

Let me take the liberty to translate these excellent and challenging questions into four essential questions. Who was Jesus? Who is Jesus? What does it mean to follow Jesus? Is Jesus the only way to heaven?

Circle Crib

Who was Jesus? Was he the unique Son of God, different from the rest of us? Who was Jesus? He was a person from the region of Galilee who lived during the first three decades of the common era. He was a teacher, healer, and social activist in the tradition of the Old Testament prophets. He gathered around him a small group of disciples. Some claimed that he was the Messiah. He was crucified around the year 30CE at Jerusalem after which his followers made a unique claim - resurrection. Most Jews believed in resurrection, a return to life of all people at the end of time for judgment. But Jesus' followers claimed that resurrection happened to Jesus alone -- during time instead of at the end of time. The expectation was that Jesus would be coming back to finish a Messiah's work.

For much of Christian history, we have tended to focus much more on the divinity of Jesus and have often lost sight that, first and foremost, he was a flesh and blood person who lived and died. Jesus was a man, but he was also much more.

Who is Jesus? Is he God, the only Son of God? Is he divine or not? Is Jesus God? The claim of divinity, equality with God, was not made explicitly until the fourth century in the Nicene Creed. The Apostle's creed, not written by the apostles themselves, but dating from the second century, calls Jesus "the only Son of God, our Lord."

The understanding of Jesus as Son of God and then God the Son evolved slowly during the first four centuries of the Christian era. The title Son of God was not claimed by Jesus in the Gospels. He preferred Son of man which simply meant a human being. Son of God was a title ascribed to Jesus for the purpose of comparing the kingdom of God with the kingdom of Caesar who also claimed the title Son of God.

Diverse schools of thought developed regarding the nature of Jesus in the early years of Christianity. These included the extreme views on the one hand that Jesus was only human or, on the other hand that Jesus was God pretending to be human. The compromise view was adopted that Jesus was both human and divine. His mystical, dual nature, was designed to avoid the extreme views.

The fourth century was a time of significant change with Emperor Constantine making Christianity the state religion of Rome. Constantine considered doctrinal clarity essential to determine who was in and who was out, and to distinguish friends from enemies. His guidance led to the church's adoption of the Nicene Creed in 325CE. For the next 1000 years, the church sought and held political power based on the idea that allegiance to the church's doctrinal statements equated to loyalty to the church.

Who Jesus is as God or Son of God is a matter of mystery and faith. What we know of Jesus as a man is that he lived and died 2000 years ago. What we who follow him believe and trust is that he is more than that. So, given that the divinity of Jesus -- Jesus as God - is a matter of mystery and faith more than certainty. The idea of Jesus as God the Son was developed by the early church during the first four centuries following Jesus' early life. It was not a teaching of Jesus. Given that, what is a Christian? What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Christian was originally a derogatory term designed to mock the followers of the Way for serving a crucified and failed Messiah. These followers, who were eventually were described as turning the world upside down became a term of admiration. Let me suggest that we think in terms of being Christian in two senses: a narrow sense (focused, not rigid) and a broad sense (universal, not relativistic).

Being Christian in this broad sense means following the way that Jesus followed - a path of love, non-violent social justice, peacemaking, inclusion, and abundant grace. It is to follow what author Matthew Fox called the Cosmic Christ, faithful to the spirit of Jesus that is present in many people and even many faith traditions whether or not they identify with Jesus or the Christian Church.

Being Christian in a narrow sense refers to those of us who intentionally follow Jesus. We embrace his story and believe that through his life, death, and resurrection the temporal and eternal dimensions of life are reconciled. We seek his mystical presence through prayer and we see in his human face the nature of God. This more narrow sense of being Christian includes, but is not limited to, those who believe in him as God the Son.

Something we must wrestle with that the early followers of Jesus did not was the religion of Christianity. Even when Jesus says, in John 14, that "No one comes to the Father but by me," there is the sense of following Jesus' way of relating to God and not in accepting the religion of Christianity. Religion is a human creation to help us make sense of our experiences of the mystical. It can be very helpful as a means to help us grow up in faith. Religion can also be very destructive when coupled with coercive power. In this instance, religion can be used as a way to divide and judge people on behalf God. Let us not presume to take on God's role, but follow Jesus' example - to love extravagantly and work for the well being of all people. As Christians in the narrow sense, we trust in the power of our faith not in it being the only correct one, but in having the name and story of Jesus to guide our path. We are able to call on the Spirit of Christ to be our friend, guide, and comforter.

The last question: if Jesus is the only way to heaven, what about the over 90% of people who are not Christians? In other words, is Jesus the only way to heaven? Is the penalty for not following Jesus hell? This question raises so many other questions. "What happens to us after we die? What is heaven? What is hell? Are either or both of these real? Is the Christian religion the only way to follow Jesus? How do you wrestle with these questions?

I suggest that the only way to become awake to the ultimate truth of life is in the way Jesus did it, by reaching out to embrace and include others, to touch and be touched by the love of God. This is true for people who never knew Jesus or who have felt rejected by those who see them as condemned by God - true also for those who have rejected the Christian religion for a variety of reasons. Ghandi is reported to have said, "I love your Christ, but I can't stand your Christians."

The greatest challenge the church faces today is the issue of salvation. Are some saved and others not? Do some of us go to heaven and others to hell when we die? Is professed faith in Jesus as divine Lord and Savior a specifically determining factor? Many Christians believe that. Many others have turned their backs on biblical faith and rejected Christianity saying they cannot worship a God who could condemn good people to eternal punishment.

I am a lifelong Christian who embraces biblical faith, Jesus, and the Church. I do not profess what might be described as traditional views of heaven, hell, reward, and damnation. As a result, I find myself asking, "Is there another way?" Yes, there is and that yes answer makes all the difference. One of the challenges we Christians on opposite sides of the salvation divide face is how to relate to each other as sisters and brothers, as mutual members of the mystical body of Christ? The answer one ancient rabbi gave was this: "what is hateful to you, do not do to anyone else." Jesus essentially said the same thing: "Do to others what you would have them do to you." We all need to respect each others' journeys and trust that God is working in their lives just like in ours.

What about those who don't profess Jesus? Are they just out of the equation? How should we understand Jesus' words from John's gospel: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but by me?" We should see salvation not simply as something that happens to you, not a transaction that sets you for life. Salvation, rather, is something in which we engage each day on the journey. The apostle Paul told us to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." (Phil. 2: 12). Salvation is the process of awakening ourselves to the divine presence and embracing our relationship with the Holy.

It is a mistake to settle for a narrow and limited understanding of salvation as a religious transaction that punches our ticket for heaven. To do so is to miss the richness and depth of faith as Jesus lived and taught it.

What is the question behind the questions? What is it we really want to know with questions about Jesus, God, judgment, and eternal life? What are the deep questions? What is the reality behind the mystery of life? It this reality trustworthy, just, and loving? Where can I place my trust? Will I and those I love be okay in an ultimate sense? The answer we see in Jesus is "yes." Exactly how that "yes" is experienced remains a mystery that requires trust is the source of all mystery - God.

Jesus trusted. He showed us how and how much trust is needed. To follow Jesus means to challenge an approach to religion that defines who is in and who is out. To follow Jesus is to challenge the fear that results from drawing the circle of inclusion and grace large, questioning narrow definitions. To follow Jesus is to challenge us to face the fear of letting go our need to control - to live by faith. Can we differ in our understandings of the nature and mystery at the center of life? Can we differ without rejecting those with whom we disagree?

What would Jesus do? What did Jesus do? We know in part and we testify in part. (1 Cor. 13) We seek the whole. We worship the Whole who brings life-transforming power through people who can live by faith - people like us? In the Lord's Prayer, we pray "deliver us from evil." (Matthew 6: ) More than a plea to protect me and keep me from eternal meaninglessness and eternal death, these words are a commitment on my part to be an agent of transformation, delivering all people from the oppression of evil, from the dungeons of darkness, and from the prisons of despair. This is what Jesus did. This is the way of Jesus we can follow. This is why we are here.

The fundamental faith question is not, "Was Jesus the Son of God or God the Son?" It is not, "Who is in and who is out?" The faith question is, "Will we choose to see the world as scarcity or as abundance? Will we think of life as hopeless or filled with possibilities? Will we see people as essentially evil, in need of a divine pardon, or as essentially good and called to grow into the likeness of Jesus? Will we see abundance as self-defeating greed or as life-affirming good news? We follow the way of Jesus in order to answer this faith question, to live with abundant possibility, and to discover and share life-affirming good news.

Celebrity Dads Give Push Presents; Get in on the Trend

Rich celebrities are accustomed to being gifted with expensive jewelry, and the trend extends to the day they give birth. Case in point: Pierce Brosnan gave wife Keely three gold and diamond bracelets when their son Paris was born. Ben Affleck presented wife Jennifer Garner with pricey purple jewelry after she delivered daughter Violet (which the unfussy and practical Mrs. Affleck reportedly made him return). Sarah Jessica Parker got a gorgeous charm bracelet from hubby Matthew Broderick when son James made his debut. Other celeb dads celebrate the arrival of their new babies by buying their wives and girlfriends expensive bling such as diamond rings, diamond earrings, pearl necklaces, pearl earrings, and jewelry made with their baby's birthstone.

Circle Crib

Up until a few years ago, these "push presents,"--so named because they're tokens of appreciation for labor--were news to me. All I got when I delivered my son was...my son. Not to say that I'm not immensely grateful; he's my pride and joy. But a nice pair of diamond studs or a pearl cocktail ring, say, to show me that my husband appreciated my months of hard pregnancy and hours of even harder labor would have been "ice" on the cake.

Circle Crib

What made the lack of gift worse was that many of my girlfriends got stunning jewelry from their thoughtful and grateful husbands. My favorites were a pearl bracelet, sapphire and diamond earrings, a diamond and yellow gold band, and a princess cut yellow diamond ring.

Poor dear, my husband didn't know it was done.

Apparently, he's not alone. In researching this article, I sent a query to all the guys on my e-mail list (whose wives can thank me later). In addition to wanting to know if they knew what a push present was, I also wanted know if they thought the idea was touching or silly. Did it put pressure on them? Was it just another damn thing they'd have to spend money on?

Naturally, the feedback I got was as varied as the guys on my e-mail list, which includes my boss, my trainer at the gym, my brother, my best friend's brother, my neighbors, my co-workers, and my dentist, to name a few.

First, for the sweet:
From Dave: "Yes, I gave my wife a gift. I didn't feel pressured. She deserved it and more."

From John: "I did buy my wife a charm bracelet after our daughter Lindsay was born. It had charms on it for both of our daughters."

From Taylor: "Yes, I bought my wife gifts both times in addition to flowers. The first time was a cultured pearl necklace (like she needs more jewelry). The last was a Kate Spade diaper bag."

From Wayne, father of four: "Maybe for one or two, certainly not all four." [I certainly remember: Wayne's wife, my friend Sandy, was the recipient of the highly coveted and aforementioned sapphire and diamond earrings.]

From Howie: "Considering my wife had a C-section with both girls, is there a cut present?" [Actually, there is, and it's called a 'cut your guts out' present. My friend's daughter Nicole got a sterling silver bracelet from her husband for her efforts].
"I gave my wife a birthstone for each girl, but forget the 'push present' idea. Those nine months are the easy part. It's for the 18 years afterwards that you have to give your wife the gifts! Honestly, those two girls can scream!"

Dennis: "Funny, before my wife was pregnant I never head of a push present. My buddy and his wife had a baby four months before us and his wife was sure to tell my wife about this gift thing. It's not that I wouldn't have gotten my wife and mother of my son a great gift, but it was put into the realm of 'did your husband get you a diamond bracelet?' type thing. It goes to show that keeping up with the Joneses makes some folks do things they might not otherwise do." [OK, maybe this answer doesn't technically fall under the sweet category as it's got some ambivalence tossed in.]

"Not sure spending thousands on a gift is the best thing for the new family. Was this gift idea created by the diamond companies? So, yes, I did get my wife a gift. Before I'd even heard of a push present, I had my son's birthstone set in a ring and necklace."

From Paul: "I gave her a day at the spa."

From Derek, "I gave her a Tiffany ring because it was a nice thing to do, I'd heard, and because she deserves it."

Now, for the incensed:

From Ben: "No, I didn't get my wife a push gift. The only thing on my mind was making sure all the important stuff was taken care of. To add something so stupid on top of this earth-shattering event is ridiculous. The special gift is the gift of life and the creation of a human being. Now when I look back at those times I wouldn't' even recall the insignificant gift. Sounds like some baloney cooked up by a jewelers' association."

From Steve: "I agreed to fund the kids for 22 years each. That was my gift."

Peter L: "Not a big fan of the push present. A woman gives birth to a child and now she expects a gift??? While I have absolutely no idea what it's like to be pregnant, I don't know of any woman who has regretted it. The whole expensive jewelry thing doesn't sit well with me. That's what birthdays and anniversaries are for." [Thank God I didn't marry Peter, not that he asked.]

From Dave H: When Meryl was born I gave my wife a new bike chain for her road bike ( value) and installed it for her (free of charge.) It was the least I could do, since I had taken the chains off of all of her bikes around the end of month seven when she refused to give up riding. She promptly began riding two weeks after popping out our kid and since she was lighter than what she was used to, she could climb hills faster than I could. The good news is that she's now four months pregnant and she's slowing down more and more by the day, which enables me to seem faster."

And last but not least, the clueless:

Peter C: "Can't remember but I'm sure I gave something."

Matt: "Oops, was I supposed to give something? Why doesn't anybody let us know these things?

Jim: "Color me thoughtless. It never occurred to me."

John S: "I must be a bad husband. Three kids in four years and I didn't get Kim a gift for any of them!"

What's a guy to do?

Whether you agree with the sweethearts, the cads, or whether you're one of the clueless, consider yourself duly informed, and remember that nine months of pregnancy topped off by excruciatingly painful labor (not to mention sore nipples) is no picnic. It's always nice to be appreciated, especially when you're a new mom, and your hormones are screaming what the heck have I done??? I used to be a sexy, carefree vixen, for Pete's sake!!!
What's more, the jewelry you give your child's mother can be passed down to that child when he or she marries or turns 21, say. Best of all, you don't have to spend thousands. Many quality jewelry pieces are just as affordable as they are sentimental.

To help you get started, here are my favorite push presents:

o Pearl studs: Timeless and elegant, pearl studs go perfectly with bathrobes and spit-up. Plus, high quality freshwater cultured pearl studs cost as little as or a pair.

o Diamond studs: A little pricier than pearl earrings, sure, but diamond studs are a jewelry staple. That means your efforts won't be in vain; these sparklers will get a ton of use. And you can have a nice pair for well under 0.

o Birthstone ring: Lots of options and price ranges here depending on the stone and the setting. (Leave out diamond accents and you probably won't break the bank.) Remember, an elegant ring can be handed down to your little one; so make sure you get something of good quality that won't tarnish.

o Nantucket Basket: A gorgeous gold basket pendant necklace that holds the birthstones of your children, the Nantucket Basket necklace is meant to be added to with subsequent births. You might find the necklace pricey, but once you buy the pendant all you have to do is add the birthstones for each subsequent child. (Push present out of the way forever.)

o Mother and child pendant: The sterling silver version of this sweet circle pendant can be had for less than .

o Charm bracelet: The sky's the limit here, but the initial investment shouldn't be too bad. Like the Nantucket basket, this piece can be added to on special occasions. Charms are priced all over the place; it's up to you what to spend. Baby birthstone booties are a favorite charm of new moms, though.

o Pearl strand: Traditional and classic, a pearl necklace is a gorgeous choice. If you have a baby girl, she can wear it in the future on her wedding day as her something borrowed and as a reminder of how much her mother means to you. If price is an issue, akoyas and freshwater cultured pearl strands are the way to go. Save the Tahitians and South Sea pearls for when your stock splits or your patent gets approved. You get the point.

Go Shopping!

Okay, future fathers, now that you know about push presents, there is no excuse not to get your children's mother a little (or big) token of your appreciation. And, no, you don't have to be rich and famous like Matt Damon or Michael Douglas, or blow future college savings. There are lots of affordable gift options that don't cost a bundle. Do a little research on the Internet and you can find unique and meaningful jewelry that fits your budget. (Just make sure to have it gift wrapped. We hate when you forget that.) And don't worry too much that we won't like it. It truly is the thought that counts. Not so sure? I'll let you in on a little secret: If you really want a foolproof way to be a hero in your wife's eyes, change a diaper once in a while!

Fireworks - Types of Fireworks

There are tons of different types of fireworks that can be seen across the world. Different cultures have different types of displays, but there are a few generalized categories that most types of pyrotechnics fall into. They vary greatly depending on how the stars are positioned and the number and type of stars that are used. Here, we'll take a look at some of the different categories.

Circle Crib

Some of the more common forms of fireworks include peonies, chrysanthemums, and dahlias (named after flowers). They differ from each other in terms of the number of stars (points of light that spread out from the centre) and the stars' size. For example, the peony has a middling number of stars that burn with no tail effect, while the chrysanthemum leaves a visible trail from each star. The dahlia has a lesser number of larger stars. Willows are also similar to chrysanthemums but have stars that burn for long periods of time, creating an effect that looks like a weeping willow.

Circle Crib

A palm is a type of shell that has a relatively smaller number of comet-like stars so that it bursts with multiple tendrils, creating an effect that looks like a palm tree. Palms also have a visible burning trail as they rise. A ring shell has the stars arranged in a certain way so that they launch out to create a circle, and there are variations on this that allow one to make hearts and clovers. A diadem is a type of shell similar to a peony except that it has a central cluster of stars that do not spread out, creating a contrasting colour effect. The crossette is a fireworks shell that contains multiple larger stars which spread out and then break into smaller stars, crossing over each other in their paths.

The spider is a high-impact shell that sends stars out very fast, yet they burn up quickly, creating a series of radial straight lines. The horsetail is a type of fireworks shell that goes a small distance and then fall, and is also known as a waterfall shell. Time rain shells are larger stars that burn more slowly, leaving a trail of sparks. Fish shells contain lots of stars that make unpredictable swimming patterns as they move away from the centre. There are many other types of pyrotechnic devices, but these are some of the more common and popular.

Is the Philosophy of Modern Science - Unscientific?

The best place to begin an examination of modern scientific philosophical flaws is in its very own definition. What science has become is far removed from its original definition.

Circle Crib

In the beginning, it was easier to trust the conclusions of science when it defined itself as the empirical study of all things, based on repeatable, observable phenomena and careful record keeping of the results. Today's science is rife with wild speculation, overworked theory, and just plain authoritarian guesswork. If a scientist said it, it has to be true, but is that true?

Circle Crib

There are plenty of reasons that science is never questioned and not the least of these is because most scientific disciplines don't want a hint of possible error being attached to them. Like all areas of modern life, accountability to the creator, God, must never be openly acknowledged. Religion is a highly doubtful area of substandard sources and subtexts, in the eyes of many scientists, who think it is largely for those who are squeamish and the fearful who haven't got any savvy, cool or real brains to start with.

The wherewithal to account for the huge amount of loan money needed to pursue a higher education, limits the willingness to question. Who would dare to admit that they are paying for a farce at about 50k or more per year on average? With fees like that, how could the curriculum possibly be wrong?

Other reasons are peer pressure, as in, what student wants to be laughed out of class for questioning the instructors. Party time pressure, as in, what student would chance missing the drinking and carousing by getting lousy grades and risking failure and dismissal?

A much lesser known reason is for the spiritually mature alone, and it has to do with a failure on Satan's part to prep an entire generation in secularism, to lead them to receive the world's last dictator known as, the antichrist. Sadly, according to scripture, he does not fail in that effort. (Rev 13: 7)

The kinds of science that are open to endless speculation are assuming that discovery and research will uncover proof for their assertions, but that is all too much just like the claims of religion, which they, (scientists) so obviously despise.

It is known as 'prior philosophic postulation' and while it is a term I am forced to use more than I like, it is without doubt exactly what is going on in the best schools and universities of the day. It is science that disregards the limitations of its own stated definition and thus, is not science at all. It is religion but without a deity, unless man is the deity, or more accurately, the imagination of man. It is something the Apostle Paul saw coming over twenty centuries past and warned about.

Paul said, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (2 Cor 10: 5)

Leaving God out of academia actually limits the possibilities of many young minds to discover and grow. Examples of scientific disciplines that have reached a plateau and remained stunted would start with modern psychiatry.

Secular psychiatry sees man as a body and a mind. The scriptures declare that man is actually a body, mind and a spirit. The denial of mans spiritual nature is apparent in the kinds of treatment that is available through modern psychology. The best that is offered is rehabilitation or treatment with drugs. Only the Christian psychologist understands that man's spiritual nature needs to be addressed.

Flying past the simplest teaching of scripture, "The spirit of a man can endure his sickness, But as for a broken spirit who can bear it?" (Pr 18: 14 NAS,) rehab and drugs are all that is left.

Not showing man the path to God is as silly as not showing a drowning man how to get to the shore, but it is the Christians who are thought to be in la-la land?

Modern psychiatry purports that you can pretty much solve all of your problems by talking them out. Since the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) which is an agency of the U.N. has recently declared that 4.1 billion people globally are using cell phones, we must be the most psychologically healthy generation in history. The reporting of psychiatry organizations worldwide would beg to differ with that assumption. In fact, there are more people under some kind of therapy today than at any other time in world history. In the U.S alone more than 1.25 out of five is under treatment.

The general consensus from high school to graduate classes, is that the world was held in ignorance by the church until the age of enlightenment after which it boomed into its present state of self acquired knowledge and advancement on almost every level. Since biblical faith in accordance with the Bible was not released until after the reformation, that means that true biblical theology had no part whatsoever in holding man back from the enlightenment. That is a historical fact, like so many other facts, that are never revealed much less discussed among the classical academicians of today.

Some of the greatest scientists of the modern era have been Christians, and it was not until biblical principles regarding social conditions throughout the world, were applied, that slavery, women's status, child labor practices and elements of modern jurisprudence were advanced.

In fact as scientific knowledge advances now at breakneck speed, some new discoveries are proving that science may have been lagging behind and is just now catching up to the bible. A few examples of science's catch ups are worth looking at briefly, as a précis.

The emerging science of quantum mechanics seems to be indicating that it is possible for certain subatomic particles to exist in two different places at the same time. Isn't it rare that for centuries anyone who espoused the biblical teaching of the omnipresence of the living God was considered a bit light in the head? Why don't we say that to the QM scientists in our classrooms, or those who have published scholarly papers and journals? I know I do not need to answer my own question.

We now have growing numbers of highly educated people, scientist included, that believe we are visited regularly by 'extraterrestrial intelligences' in what is commonly known as UFOs. Whether they are the same, or not, why have the empiricists failed to discern the parallels between the belief and occasional sightings of 'extra-celestial intelligences' more commonly called angels. Since all the attributes of one seem to be present in the other, why hasn't science seen that one theorem floats just about as well as the other?

Both have the ability to transmogrify (change size and shape at will,) travel above supersonic speeds and change direction or move off at right angles without slowing down, which would destroy anything considered to be part of the physical universe. That fact alone being why the Air Force's Blue Book report intimated that the UFOs sighted may have been more metaphysical, (spirits) rather than physical.

When the more than thirty people in Brussels Belgium stood gazing at a football sized triangular object and it suddenly shrunk into the size of about a basketball and swooshed back up into the sky, didn't anyone have the slightest inkling that it could be metaphysical, are the only good scientific minds in our world part of the U.S. Air Force? When was the last time any legitimate scientist tried to explain the shrinking of a 420ft long (counting the end zones) object to the size of a basketball, and yet today's moderns would probably believe any explanation put forth from within the scientific community. Seem a bit biased?

Hasn't anyone noticed that even those who claim to have been abducted by UFOs, and are missing time in their experience, cannot seem to piece any of the missing time together until they are hypnotized. Oddly when they are recounting the events within the missing time period they begin speaking in a very different voice from their own. Their voices change becoming monotonic and deep. This kind of voice change is more often associated with those who are speaking under demon possession. Are they saying only what they are supposed to say, exactly what a modern world wants to hear. Should I mention that not all of the angels the Bible says are present in the world are under the authority of the Lord, Satan has his own minions as well.

In special cases where previously unknown knowledge is revealed as in the Barney and Betty Hill case in Exeter, New Hampshire, the UFO devotee is left with what seems like immutable proof of a visit because new knowledge was introduced. What an entrance, using knowledge to convince a knowledge worshipping pre-disposed bunch of ready made believers to buy the story. It is here I might say that not only do secularists not believe in a literal satanic ruler of the present world, but they have no idea that he is himself, a celestial creature, whose origins are not of the planet earth. But of course, that not being allowed, it might not occur to anyone that he also has knowledge we cannot even imagine and may introduce it at will.

Leaving the celestial, we can see that knowledge of what is 'out there' may seem just a bit pompous for a world that just a few centuries ago was afraid of traversing the oceans blue in any one direction for too long. Both the church (Catholic) and the scientists of the ancient world thought the earth was flat and travelers' would simply fall off the edge if they went too far.

Both the church and the scientist had to catch up to the Bible. In his book of prophecy written some 700 years before Christ, the Prophet Isaiah indicated that the earth was indeed round. "It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in." (Isa 40: 22)

Playing catch up to the Bible goes way back before the prophets. In Genesis, a book that is now over 5,000 years old, a statement was made that only today can be fully understood. Evolutionists have insisted that special selection and mutations have caused different species to emerge.

But the record, which is now much clearer, having been under scrutiny for more than a generation has proven that all mutations are regressive and always cause the end of a species. There has not been time enough since the inception of Darwinism to prove the rest of the theory. But experiments with fruit flies and other rapidly reproducing species have concluded beyond doubt that only intra species evolution is possible. Inter species evolution is the golden pipe dream for those who are well indoctrinated. What does all this mean?

In all its glaring simplicity you can breed all the chickens in the world with each other until the world comes to an end. You may produce hundreds or thousands of new kinds of chickens but you will never see the hen producing a puppy or a snake as its offspring. From the beginning the Bible has made that clear, but science hears only its own voice, at least until now. In the first chapter of Genesis the fact that each species will only produce more of the same species is stated clearly, and no statement or discovery of science has been able to change that for over sixty centuries.

Perhaps one of the most amazing discoveries in a new believers lifetime is coming into the knowledge that heaven or the hereafter is not, after all, some inter or other dimensional existence that no one has ever seen or can explain. From winged humans on puffy white clouds to grand ethereal cogitations of the imagination, heaven has been open ground for speculation and some pretty fancy guesswork. Such unlearned nonsense makes trying for heaven about as interesting as exploring a cave in the Andes. The rarity of spelunkers willing to do that is evidence that not many are willing to risk a thing to make that discovery a reality in their own lives.

In America millions enjoy going down into the Carlsbad or Luray Caverns to see the wonders of both these deep caves. They have already been explored, and access to them has been made for all. Christ has entered into that dark cave we call death, returned and promises us that it is now accessible to us all, but he goes on to describe it in detail. He has not only been put in charge of it, but makes promises that he is preparing a place (mansions) in it for all who will one day abide there. (Rev 21: 1f)

Rather than being an inter-dimensional labyrinth, it turns out to be a physical and very real place with unending space, beauty and endless fellowship with millions of others who will reside there for eternity. It has streets, beautiful mansions and special sites, and, we will be there with glorified bodies, our own bodies, regenerated, by the God who created them in the first place.

Science can only imagine our future, it may offer speculation about where and what it will be but God promises us a future and describes it in full detail. Science says it may be this or that, but God says exactly what it is, and promises that it will never change.

Modern science has stepped outside of its own limitations and somehow made itself greater than God. For discerning minds, searching spirits and those whose thinking has not been captured in the wave of today, God's promise provides a more sure foundation than the faulty broad speculations of science, clearly biased by the weak and prideful imagination of man.

Little wonder that the learned Apostle Paul, inspired of the Holy Spirit, penned these incredible words. "Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty." (1Cor 1: 25-27)
